Samson, Abhishek, and Ishan’s explosive innings

The final match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where around 86,000 spectators were present to witness the historic moment. Batting first, India put up a massive total of 255 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. In reply, New Zealand failed to cope with the pressure and were bowled out for 159 runs, giving India a comprehensive victory. India’s win was built on explosive batting performances from Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Samson played a brilliant innings of 89 runs off 46 balls, smashing eight sixes and putting the New Zealand bowlers under constant pressure. Abhishek Sharma provided India with a rapid start, scoring 52 runs from just 21 balls. His aggressive batting during the powerplay shifted the momentum firmly in India’s favor. Later in the innings, Ishan Kishan continued the attacking approach and scored a quick 54 runs off 25 balls, which included four sixes and four fours. His partnership of 105 runs with Samson in just 48 balls pushed India’s total beyond the 200-run mark and ensured a huge score on the board. Chasing the massive target, the New Zealand batting lineup struggled against the Indian bowling attack. Star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah led the charge with lethal bowling that shattered New Zealand’s hopes. The entire team was eventually dismissed for 159 runs. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner also faced criticism for his team selection. Off-spinner Cole McConchie, who had performed well in the semi-final, was not included in the playing XI. Instead, pacer Jacob Duffy was brought in but conceded 42 runs in just three overs.
