Ranchi Railway Station witnessed a major success for the Railway Protection Force on 29 January 2026 when they seized a large quantity of ganja and arrested two smugglers. Acting under the instructions of Divisional Security Commissioner Mr. Pawan Kumar, the RPF was on high alert during its duty. During a routine inspection at Platform No. 1, in front of the food plaza, the officers spotted two suspicious individuals sitting with two backpacks. The RPF questioned the men, who identified themselves as Monu Kumar, 24, from Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), and Rajkumar, 24, from Rohtas (Bihar). Both admitted that their backpacks contained ganja. The matter was immediately reported to Assistant Security Commissioner, RPF, Ranchi, Mr. Ashok Kumar Singh. Following his instructions and after completing all legal formalities, the RPF conducted a thorough search of the accused and their bags. The search revealed 4 packets of ganja in Monu Kumar’s blue bag and 4 packets in Rajkumar’s black and blue bag. All 8 packets were tested using a drug detection kit, confirming that they contained ganja. Upon weighing, the total quantity of ganja recovered was 8 kilograms. In addition, a mobile phone and a general railway ticket were also seized. During questioning, the accused revealed that they had obtained the ganja from an unknown person in the Phulbani area of Odisha. They were transporting it by train to Ranchi and were supposed to hand it over to a person named Krishna Kumar in Sasaram. Several RPF officers and personnel played a commendable role in this operation, including Inspector Shishupal, Sub-Inspector Suraj Pandey, Sub-Inspector Kamal Das, Assistant Sub-Inspector Yogendra Kumar, and Flying Team members Rajkumar Singh, M.
