Ranchi Police Arrest Six, Including Four Women, in Drug Smuggling Bust

Cracking down on drug smuggling, Ranchi police arrested six persons, including four women, from Bariatu area of ​​Ranchi. In the operation, 70 packets of brown sugar wrapped in aluminium foil were recovered, weighing a total of 11.27 grams. Besides, cash worth Rs 90,000 was also seized from the arrested persons.

According to Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha, the operation was launched following a tip-off received on June 11, indicating illegal drug sales near Rameswaram Lane in Bariatu. Acting swiftly, a raid was conducted under the leadership of Bariatu police station in-charge, resulting in the arrest of the suspects, who were found packing brown sugar in a room.

The SSP said that the drug smugglers in the area were alert and cautious about the presence of the police, having dodged the authorities several times in the past. Taking a strategic move, the Ranchi police team deployed male and female officers in plainclothes without using official vehicles to nab the women suspects.

The investigation has also revealed possible links to Mumbai, indicating the wide reach of the drug smuggling network. Those arrested include Aarti Devi alias Gudli, Shagun Devi, Neetu Nand Kishore Mistry, whose involvement in the illegal drug trade has come to light.
