Police have exposed an extortion plot against a gold merchant and arrested a young man linked to gangster Prince Khan. The arrest was made during an anti-crime checking drive on January 1, 2026. As per the instructions of the Palamu Superintendent of Police, police were conducting checking near the overbridge on the banks of the Koel River in the city police station area around 8 pm. During the checking, a black Apache motorcycle coming from Girivar School side was stopped. Seeing the police, the bike rider tried to run away. However, the police team present there chased him and caught him. On questioning, he identified himself as Shahrukh Ali, 25 years old, son of Jafar Ali alias Tufani, a resident of Hussain Nagar Pahari Mohalla in Palamu. During a search, police recovered a country-made pistol from his waist, two live cartridges from his jeans pocket, and a Realme mobile phone. All the items were seized and Shahrukh Ali was arrested. During questioning, police found that a few days ago gangster Prince Khan had called a gold merchant, Ranjit Soni, from the Panchmuhan area and demanded extortion money. When the businessman refused to pay, a plan was made to fire shots to create fear. In this case, two accused have already been arrested and sent to jail earlier. Police also said that Shahrukh Ali was in touch with Prince Khan through his nephew Mohammad Atif Khan. Shahrukh was promised Rs 30,000 for carrying out the work. Police added that Atif Khan had earlier posted a screen recording of his conversation with Prince Khan on social media.
