Preparations for Assembly elections continue in Ranchi district: Deputy Commissioner holds important meeting

Today on 21st June 2024, Deputy Commissioner Shri Rahul Kumar Sinha chaired an important meeting at the NIC Auditorium in the Collectorate to discuss the preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. The meeting was attended by Deputy Election Officers, Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers and other concerned officers of all the seven assembly constituencies of Ranchi district.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Shri Rahul Kumar Sinha apprised the officers of the guidelines received from Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand Shri K Ravi Kumar.

Door-to-door survey program

Deputy Commissioner Shri Rahul Kumar Sinha announced that a comprehensive door-to-door survey will be conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from 25th June 2024 to 24th July 2024. He directed the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers of all constituencies to organize a meeting with BLOs and BLO supervisors for the smooth conduct of the survey. He also urged the residents of Ranchi district to cooperate with the administration during this survey.

Special Summary Revision Programme

Deputy Commissioner Shri Rahul Kumar Sinha presented the outline of the second special summary revision programme of voter list for 2024, highlighting the electoral timeline. The key dates include:

  • Publication of draft voter list: July 25, 2024 (Thursday)
  • Filing of claims and objections: July 25, 2024 (Thursday) to August 9, 2024 (Friday)
  • Special campaign dates: Every Saturday and Sunday from July 25, 2024 to August 9, 2024
  • Disposal of claims and objections: By August 19, 2024 (Monday)
  • Final publication of voter list: August 19, 2024 (Tuesday)

Deputy Commissioner Shri Rahul Kumar Sinha directed the ROs/AROs to organize meetings with political parties, BLOs and BLO observers to ensure transparent and efficient electoral process. He emphasized on maintaining civic conduct and promoting a healthy environment while interacting with political parties.

Promoting voter turnout and #IAmVerifiedVoter campaign

Speaking on the issue of voter turnout, Deputy Commissioner Shri Rahul Kumar Sinha urged the officers to formulate strategies to increase voter participation, especially at booths with low turnout. He directed for booth rationalization in urban areas to optimize polling efficiency.

Further, he called for vigorously promoting the #IAmVerifiedVoter campaign to reassure voters about their status in the voter list before the elections. He emphasized on being cautious in deleting names from the voter list and stressed that names should be removed only after thorough verification.
