Taking a significant step aimed at increasing employment opportunities in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Shri Champai Soren comprehensively reviewed the progress of the Industries Department at Jharkhand Mantralaya. The high-level meeting held in the presence of senior officials focused on increasing employment through diverse industrial initiatives.
Chief Minister Soren stressed the need to promote a balanced development strategy by promoting small, cottage and village industries along with large-scale enterprises. Highlighting the potential of these industries to uplift rural communities, he emphasized that empowering marginalized groups like farmers and the needy through skill development and employment is the top priority.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Soren said, “Small, cottage and village industries play an important role in increasing income and promoting self-reliance among our citizens.” He underlined the significant employment opportunities in sectors such as silk and tassar production and directed officials of Jharcraft and Khadi and Village Industries Board to prioritise skill development for women in remote rural areas.
Recognising the potential of yarn production, Chief Minister Soren urged the State Khadi Board and Jharcraft to motivate women to join the industry and provide training in processing of tassar and silk cocoons. He announced a 35% subsidy on equipment for trained women, aimed at enhancing their capabilities and promoting self-employment. Speaking further on industrial revival, Chief Minister Soren directed the Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA) to survey and revive closed industrial units, to ensure maximum utilisation of resources for job creation. Emphasising on local employment under the state’s industrial policy, he said 75% of the jobs in industrial units should be reserved for locals. During the review, Chief Minister Soren expedited several major projects under JIIDCO, including Jharkhand Plastic Park, Pharma Park and various initiatives of the Central Government like PM Gatishakti Yojana and PM Ekta Mall. State Chief Secretary Shri L. Khiangte and other senior officials were present in the meeting and instructions were given to streamline efforts for quality infrastructure in industrial areas and ensure strong support system for sustainable development and employment opportunities in Jharkhand.
