Achieving a major breakthrough against organised crime, the police have arrested five members of a bike thief gang active in Dhanbad district. Based on intelligence inputs, a special police team conducted the operation, which resulted in the arrests.
Senior Superintendent of Police Hrideep P Janardhanan said the operation was launched based on confidential information indicating the presence of two dreaded criminals in Khas-Kuia who were planning to commit motorcycle thefts in Jharia and other areas of Dhanbad.
The team, led by station in-charges of Tisra and Ghanuwadih OPs, conducted the operation swiftly. During the raid near a BCCL-owned house in Khas-Kuia, Sonu Sinha and Bholu Mahato were caught with four stolen motorcycles, who were planning to commit another theft. Further interrogation led to the identification of their accomplices and additional stolen motorcycles. In the action taken after this, eight stolen motorcycles were recovered from places like Surugan, Chand Kuiya and Kusmataand.
