Chief Minister Mohan Majhi of the new BJP government in Odisha has wasted no time in fulfilling his election promise. Today, all four gates were formally reopened for devotees at the Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri.
CM Mohan Charan Majhi, accompanied by dignitaries including Puri MP Sambit Patra and Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, personally monitored the reopening of the temple gates. The decision to open all the entry gates was announced during the CM’s first cabinet meeting.
Addressing the media, CM Majhi said, “Opening all the gates of the temple was an important promise in our election manifesto and today we are proud to fulfill it. Devotees faced inconveniences due to the closure and it was important to address their concerns.” The decision has been taken keeping in mind the long-standing demands of devotees and is a significant step towards restoring access and spiritual connectivity for millions of devotees.
Further, underlining the government’s commitment to preserve Odisha’s cultural heritage, CM Majhi announced the allocation of a substantial fund of Rs 500 crore for the conservation and promotion of the revered Jagannath temple.
