The scrutiny of nomination papers for the Municipal (General) Elections-2026 was successfully completed today. The process was carried out at the offices of the concerned Returning Officers located in Block-A and Block-B of the Collectorate. The scrutiny was conducted on the scheduled date and time, strictly following the guidelines issued by the State Election Commission. The entire process remained transparent, systematic, and peaceful. During the scrutiny, nomination papers were examined carefully in the presence of the candidates or their authorized representatives. All required documents submitted with the nomination papers were checked in detail. This included verification of affidavits, personal details of the candidates, information related to proposers and seconders, and other mandatory criteria. The purpose of this detailed examination was to ensure that the election process remains fair, lawful, and free from any irregularities. The General Observer for the Ranchi Municipal Corporation area, Mr. Sandeep Kumar Doraiburu, visited the offices of various Returning Officers and closely observed the scrutiny process. He reviewed the arrangements and procedures adopted during scrutiny. The Observer expressed satisfaction over the proper implementation of the Election Commission’s guidelines, transparency in the process, and smooth functioning of the system. He also provided necessary instructions to the officials to further strengthen the election process. District Deputy Election Officer-cum-Panchayati Raj Officer, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sahu, was also present throughout the process. He continuously monitored the scrutiny proceedings and ensured that all activities were carried out in accordance with the prescribed rules and within the fixed timeline. Scrutiny for the Post of Mayor The scrutiny of nomination papers filed for the post of Mayor under the Municipal (General) Elections-2026 was also completed today. This process took place at the office of the Returning Officer located in Block-B of the Collectorate. Each nomination paper was thoroughly examined, including verification of documents, affidavits, proposer-seconder details, and other essential requirements. After careful examination, all 19 candidates who had filed nominations for the post of Mayor were found eligible. The administration is making all necessary arrangements to ensure that the elections are held in a peaceful, fair, and transparent manner.
