Indian Railways has taken some important steps to make train travel easier for people.
Reservation Chart 8 Hours Before Train Leaves
The Railway Board has decided that reservation charts will now be made 8 hours before the train’s departure.
• For example, if a train leaves before 2 PM, the chart will be ready by 9 PM the night before.
• This will help people with waiting list tickets know their status early.
• It will also help passengers coming from remote areas or outskirts of cities to plan better.
Faster Ticket Booking System
Railways said that with the new Passenger Reservation System (PRS), more than 1.5 lakh tickets can now be booked per minute.
• This will make ticket booking faster and smoother.
New Tatkal Ticket Rules from July 1, 2025
From July 1, 2025, there will be new rules for booking Tatkal tickets on the IRCTC website and app.
• Only users who complete online identity verification will be able to book Tatkal tickets.
• This step is being taken to stop misuse of the system.
OTP Verification from End of July
By the end of July 2025, Indian Railways will start OTP (One Time PIN) verification for Tatkal ticket booking.
• Passengers can use their DigiLocker account for this.
• Aadhar card or any valid government ID saved in DigiLocker can be used.
• Railways has already shared a list of documents that are accepted for this process.
