NEET Aspirant case – CBI Questions Family, Digital Evidence Under Scanner

CBI has stepped up its probe into the suspicious death of a student who was preparing for the NEET medical entrance exam. On Sunday, the CBI team reached the student’s native district, Jehanabad, after examining her hostel room at Shambhu Hostel in Patna. Around 9 a.m., more than two dozen CBI officers arrived in five vehicles at the village. Police from Shakurabad police station were also present for security. The team stayed in the village for several hours and questioned the family members separately. Sources said the officers asked detailed questions about the student’s daily routine, study schedule, academic pressure, coaching institute, friends, and any recent changes in her behaviour. Investigators are trying to find out whether she was under mental stress, facing any threats, or dealing with any unusual situation before her death. Statements of the family members are being recorded and matched with the statements they had earlier given to the Bihar Police Special Investigation Team. Officials are checking for any differences or new clues that may help in the case.

Digital Data a Major Challenge

CBI sources said that digital evidence has become a major hurdle. Some data from mobile phones and other electronic devices has reportedly been overwritten or erased. This has made it difficult to prepare an exact timeline of events. There are also some differences in the statements of witnesses recorded earlier. Since several days passed before the physical evidence was handed over by the SIT, it has become harder to recreate the exact crime scene. Sources also said that the CBI has noticed certain lapses in the initial investigation.

Forensic Experts Join Probe

Meanwhile, a team of forensic experts from Delhi has reached Patna to scientifically examine the evidence collected from the hostel. The experts are closely analysing technical and digital evidence to uncover the truth. The CBI has stated that the investigation is being carried out in a fair and unbiased manner. Officials said all possible angles are being examined to find out the real circumstances behind the student’s death.
