In protest against the murder of Adiwasi leader Soma Munda, various Adiwasi organizations called for a statewide bandh in Jharkhand. The bandh affected many parts of the state from early morning. While some areas saw only a partial impact, the situation was most serious in Khunti district, where normal life was heavily disrupted. The shutdown also had a visible effect in the capital city Ranchi, especially around Albert Ekka Chowk and nearby areas. A total of 16 tribal organizations supported this bandh and appealed to people to participate peacefully. It is important to note that Soma Munda, a respected tribal leader, was shot dead on January 7 near Jamuadaha in Khunti district. After this shocking incident, there has been deep sorrow and anger among the local people and the tribal community. Many people are demanding justice and strict punishment for those involved in the murder. Earlier, on January 8, tribal organizations had also called for a Khunti bandh, which had a strong impact across the district. According to the police, the murder was the result of a land dispute. Khunti police have so far arrested seven accused in connection with the case. However, local residents and organizations allege that the main conspirator and the person who actually fired the shots are still absconding. They believe that the investigation is incomplete and are demanding the immediate arrest of the key accused. This has increased public anger and raised serious questions about the police action. supporters has blocked roads at several places by burning tires, which caused traffic disruptions and inconvenience to commuters. Many markets, shops, and business establishments remained closed throughout the day. Educational institutions and were also affected. To maintain law and order, the police administration made tight security arrangements.
