After completing 25 years of its formation, Jharkhand is moving towards a new phase of development. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the state government has set a long-term goal through “Vision 2050” to make Jharkhand a global power hub for critical minerals. The government believes that Jharkhand can play an important role not only in India’s growth but also in the global economy. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that Jharkhand should no longer be seen only as a mining state. According to him, a resource-rich state must focus on balanced development that includes modern technology, environmental protection, employment generation, and inclusive growth. His vision is that development in Jharkhand should happen in harmony with nature and directly benefit local communities. The critical minerals found in Jharkhand are becoming very important for the world’s shift towards clean and renewable energy. These minerals are used in solar and wind energy projects, battery manufacturing, electric vehicles, hydrogen-based industries, and smart grid systems. Keeping this in mind, the state government is preparing a long-term and responsible plan for the safe use of these minerals so that Jharkhand can become a trusted partner in global supply chains. As part of this effort, Chief Minister Hemant Soren will present Jharkhand’s vision at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos and during his official visit to the United Kingdom. Through meetings with global leaders, investors, and industry representatives, Jharkhand will highlight how its mineral resources can strengthen India’s industrial base and support a clean energy-driven economy. The establishment of a Centre for Critical Minerals and Clean Technology at IIT-ISM Dhanbad is also a key step in this direction. The Jharkhand government has made it clear that its aim is not just to attract short-term investment. Instead, it wants to show the world a clear roadmap for long-term and sustainable investment. At Davos, the state will promote its idea of “development in harmony with nature,” stressing responsible mining, use of advanced technology, strong environmental safeguards, and public participation. The focus is also on creating industries that generate local employment. Jharkhand is one of India’s most important mining regions, with rich reserves of iron ore, copper, coal, bauxite, uranium, limestone, and several critical minerals. These resources are essential for renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, digital infrastructure, and the defence sector. Major industries such as Tata Steel, Hindustan Copper Limited, and Uranium Corporation of India have grown in the state, showing its strong industrial base. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that the balanced and proper use of Jharkhand’s natural resources can bring positive change in the lives of its people. With Vision 2050, the state aims to become a global hub for critical minerals while setting an example of sustainable development, environmental protection, and employment generation.
