Security forces have gunned down eight Naxalites in a fierce encounter in the dense forests of Abujhmad in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district. The ongoing operation is a decisive blow against the Naxal insurgency in the region.
The encounter started after security forces launched a joint operation based on information about the presence of Naxalites in Kutul Farasbeda Kodtameta area of Abujhmad. The operation, coordinated between Narayanpur-Kondagaon-Kanker-Dantewada DRG, STF and ITBP 53rd battalion, has been active in Maad area of Narayanpur district for the past two days.
Sources said the firing between security forces and Naxalites has been intense, highlighting the challenging terrain and the conditions in which the operation is being conducted.
