New Delhi – Earthquake tremors were felt in Kargil, Ladakh, around 2:50 am on Thursday night. The National Seismological Center reported that the epicenter was at a depth of 15 kilometers. About three hours later, at 6 am, earthquake tremors were also felt in Northeast India, with a 4.0 magnitude quake recorded in the West Kameng area of Arunachal Pradesh.
Leh and Ladakh are located in seismic zone-IV, which is considered a high-risk area for earthquakes due to the tectonic activity of the Himalayan region, making such incidents common.
